CD-player operation
Audio CDs can be played in the radio system (A2) or in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6). The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) has an automatic input slot for 6 CD's. They are loaded centrally via an input slot. Each CD can be loaded and removed individually with the 6 selection buttons on the unit. The system is operated via the entry keyboard at the radio (A2).
Only 12-cm CD's can be inserted into the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).
The control signals from the radio (A2) as well as the audio data from the CD player with changer (in the glove compartment) (A2/6) are transmitted via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). The signals are processed and amplified by the radio (A2). The CD player operation is selected at the radio (A2) in the "Audio/CD" menu. After entering an audio CD into the automatically retracting slot of the CD player with changer (in the glove compartment) (A2/6), the following functions are available to the user:
The following functions are possible:
- Selection of pull-in opening of audio CD in changer
- Selection of audio CD
- Track selection
- "Search forwards" and "Search backwards"
- Display current playback time of track or audio CD
- Programming function
At the end of the CD, the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) switches to the first track on the next available audio CD.
The following functions are possible:
- Scan function
The music tracks are played for t = 8 s. At the end of the audio CD played, the CD changer (A2/6) automatically switches to the first track of the next available CD.
- Playback function
There are several different ways to play back music in the "settings" menu.
The user has the following options in the "settings" menu:
- Normal track function
The music tracks are played back in the regular sequence.
- Repeat track
The track currently being played is repeated until the function is deactivated.
- Repeat audio CD
The audio CD currently being played is repeated until the function is deactivated.
- Track mix
All the tracks of an audio CD are played according to the random principle. Once all the tracks of a CD have been played once, the next audio CD is automatically loaded and the track mix function continues.
- Audio CD mix
At least 4 tracks of an audio CD are played in random order before the system switches to the next available audio CD.
For the "audio CD mix" function, at least 2 audio CDs have to be present in the CD changer.
Assigning a title to an audio CD
Each audio CD contains a fixed list of contents. This makes it possible to automatically detect a title after the user has assigned the title one time, even if the audio CD is inserted into another magazine.
The table of contents additionally contains information on the number of titles on an audio CD and the audio CD's total playing time.
