CD player mode
Audio CDs can be played using the radio (A2) or the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer). The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) comes with a magazine for 6 CDs. The magazine is loaded centrally via an insertion slot. The system is operated via the entry keyboard at the radio (A2).

Only 12-cm CDs can be inserted into the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).

The control signals from the radio (A2) as well as the audio data from the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are transmitted via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). Signals are processed and amplified by the radio (A2).

CD player operation is selected on the radio (A2) in the "Audio, CD" menu. After inserting the magazine with at least one audio CD into the insertion slot of the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6), the user can access various function options.
The following functions are possible:
- Selection of insertion tray for audio CD in magazine
- Selection of audio CD
- Select track
- "Search forwards" and "Search backwards"
- Display current playback time of track or audio CD
- Programming function

At the end of the audio CD, the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) automatically switches to the first track on the next audio CD available.
The following functions are possible:
- Track skip
The tracks of one audio CD are played briefly for t = 8 s. Once a CD has been played in full, the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) automatically switches to the last set mode.

- Random function
All the tracks of an audio CD are played according to the random principle. Once all the tracks on a CD have been played once, the next audio CD is automatically loaded and the random function continues. The random function is repeated until it is deactivated.

- Repeat function
One track or all the tracks on an audio CD are repeated alternatively. It is also possible to have all the tracks of the audio CDs in the magazine repeated.

The following possibilities are available in the menu "Adjustments":
- Normal track function
- Repeat track
- Repeat audio CD
- Select a track sequence

Assigning a title to an audio CD
Each audio CD contains a permanently stored table of contents (TOC entry). Once a track is allocated by the user, this makes it possible to automatically recognize this track even if the audio CD is placed into another magazine.
The table of contents (TOC entry) also contains information on the number of tracks on an audio CD and the total running time of the audio CD.
