- TRANSMISSION 716.6 in MODEL 203 with CODE (424) Sequentronic automated manual transmission (SEQ) up to model year 08
- TRANSMISSION 716.6 in MODEL 208 with CODE (424) Sequentronic automated manual transmission (SEQ)
Gear display (A1p12) in instrument cluster (A1):
The currently engaged gear with the symbol: "1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6", "R" or neutral is displayed to the driver with the symbol "N".
The display "0" takes place during a shift operation in which the brake pedal was not depressed. When the brake pedal has been depressed, the symbol "N" is displayed. If the automatic shift operation is selected by the driver, the symbol "A" is displayed.
The permanent system monitoring by the "Sequentronic" control unit (N15/6) detects faults which have occurred. If a detected fault leads to limp-home mode of the system, the A1 symbol: "F" is displayed in the instrument cluster and a fault code assigned to the respective fault stored in the "Sequentronic" control unit (N15/6).

Safety concept:
During driving mode input and output signals as well as the condition of the system are constantly monitored by the "Sequentronic" control unit (N15/6). If a fault is detected, the system reacts according to the safety concept. This is comprised of emergency strategies, emergency action and safety modes.
If a fault occurs in the system, the emergency strategies prevent critical situations for the driver from arising. When the engine is running the functionality of the system is lowered. The driver is still able to reach the nearest workshop.
If several faults occur at the same time, the text information on the fault with the highest priority is shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).
