GF91.60-P-2004PP Rear-End Collision - Function

Chronological behavior of emergency tensioning retractor if a rear-end collision occurs

Rear end collision
In the event of a rear end collision the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) registers rapid acceleration in the direction of travel. If the first triggering threshold is exceeded, the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) sends a triggering pulse to the:
- Driver ETR squib (R12/1)
- Passenger ETR squib (R12/2)

However, this only occurs if the respective seat belt buckle has been fastened. If the second triggering threshold is exceeded, the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) sends additional triggering pulses to the:
- Left rear ETR squib (R12/6)
- Right rear ETR squib (R12/7)

The emergency tensioning retractors (ETRs) in the rear are also triggered if the respective buckles are not fastened.
