DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of explosion from hydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury to eyes and skin suffering caustic burns from battery electrolyte or from contact with damaged lead acid batteries.
- No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
1 Disconnect ground line of battery.
NOTE: Turn key in electronic ignition switch EIS into position "0". Key cannot be withdrawn.
NOTE: Vehicles with Code (889) Keyless Go: Switch off engine, remove Keyless-Go cards from the vehicle and store outside of transmitter range.
2 Remove cover of module housing (8).
3 Separate electrical plug socket (4).
4 Unplug electrical plug sockets (5, 6, 7) at motor electronics control module (N3/10).
NOTE: Open locking bar.
5 Remove firewall (1) Model 230U] Installation: Install rubber strips (2) at firewall (1).
6 Unclip wiring harness (3) from module housing (8) and splash wall [B Put down wiring harness (3) on engine.
7 Unplug refrigerant compressor connector (A9x1) at refrigerant compressor (A9).
7.1 Disconnect ground line (9) to body.
- Vehicles without Active Body Control.
7.2 Disconnect ground line (9) to tandem pump.
- Vehicles with Active Body Control (code 487a).
8 Open terminal block circuit 30 (X4/37), to do so remove heat shield and protective cap.
NOTE: Location of terminal block circuit 30 (X4/37): Right front transmission tunnel.
9 Dismount electrical lines (10,11) from terminal block circuit 30 (X4/37).
