Component Identification:
Headlamp range control is installed as passive safety equipment to prevent halogen headlamps dazzling oncoming traffic.
The headlamp range adjustment serves to keep the incline angle of the driving lights dependent on the given load and the position of the HRA [LWR] selector wheel (S1s8) within the legally prescribed limits.

Function
On model 211.0 the HRA [LWR] selector wheel (S1s8) features positions 0, 1, 2, and 3.
On model 211.2 the HRA [LWR] selector wheel (S1s8) features positions -1, 0, and 1.
The individual selector wheel positions are to be matched to the vehicle loads and they are available in the operator's manual. Actuation takes place directly from the HRA [LWR] selector wheel (S1s8) via the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) to the left headlamp range adjustment motor (E1m1) in the left front lamp unit (E1) and the right headlamp range adjustment motor (E2m1) in the right front lamp unit (E2).
