GF54.50-P-2007T Fuel Consumption, Function
GF54.50-P-2007T Fuel Consumption, Function
Fuel consumption "Since start" (short-distance memory), function
Average fuel consumption since engine start
Fuel consumption "Since reset" (long-distance memory), function
Average fuel consumption since the last reset
The display screen "since start" of " since reset" for the journey time can be activated the via the system selection button (S110s3) and scroll forwards and backwards button (S110s1) of the multifunction steering wheel.
Depending on the adjustment (miles/kilometers) and coding of the national version of the instrument cluster (A1) the display takes place in:
^ Miles per gallon
^ Liters per 100 kilometers or
^ Kilometers per liter (only if national version Japan is coded)
The trip computer calculates the average fuel consumption figures from the mileage traveled and the consumption signal.
The fuel consumption signal uses information on the amount of fuel injected within a specific period.
The instrument cluster (A1) receives this data in the following way:
^ The consumption signal is produced by the motor electronics control unit (N3/10) and by the CDI control unit (N3/9) and is placed as a message on the engine compartment CAN.
^ The mileage traveled is calculated from the four wheel speeds. The signals come over the engine compartment CAN from the ESP, SPS and BAS control module (N47-5).
After a reset it may take as much as three kilometers/miles or up to two minutes until enough data is available to calculate and display the fuel consumption figures correctly. During this time depending on the adjustment (miles/kilometers) and coding of the national version of the instrument cluster (A1)5.8 MPG, 40 L/100 km or 2.5 km/L is displayed.
It is normal for different values to be displayed in the "since start" (short-distance memory) display screen and in the "since reset" (long-distance memory) display screen as both displays access different data records.
The "Since start" display (short-distance memory) reacts much more sensitively to the current driving situation than the "Since reset" display (long-distance memory).
