Procedure

Note:
DAS release 09/04 or later must be on SDS prior to performing this campaign.

A. Software testing procedure

1. Connect SDS to vehicle through the 16 pin diagnostic connector (X11/4).

2. Software test CGW:

^ Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS to perform software test: Control units/Body/Central gateway/Control unit version.





^ An update must be performed for software with "MB object number for software" (bottom arrow, Figure 1): A211 445 20 00 A211 445 24 00 or A211 445 25 00, Software status" (top arrow) 03380 is displayed (refer to Subject B [Flash procedure] to perform update).

Note:
An update is not required for other MB object numbers or a different software release.

B. Flash procedure

Note:
Preflash requirements:
^ Battery voltage >11 volts

^ Connect battery charger

1. Data back-up

Menu item "Information and Communication":

^ Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS: Control units/Information and Communication/ASSYST:

Print out: Actual values/Active service system since the last oil change.

^ Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS: Control units/Information and Communication/ASSYST PLUS:

Print out:

a) Actual values/CAN reception data

b) Actual values/Internal ASSYST PLUS data.

c) General servicing/Service memory

^ Perform control module reset:

Navigate through the following screen menus: Control units/Information and Communication/ASSYST PLUS control unit adaptations/Control module reset.

^ Verify that there are no stored Fault codes in CGW, ASSYST, or ASSYST+, if none are stored proceed to next step. If fault code 910A is now current, proceed to step 2, Subject B.





^ If value (arrows, Figures 2, 3) odometer in "Internal ASSYST PLUS data" deviates from the total distance in "CAN reception data" by more than 1,000 km/621 mi. or service has been neglected for thousands of days (arrow, Figure 4), then perform step 2, Subject B (Adaptation of ASSYST/ASSYST PLUS values) otherwise, proceed directly to step 3 (Software update CGW).

2. Adaptation of ASSYST/ASSYST PLUS values

^ ASSYST PLUS values:

Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS Control unit/Information and communication/ASSYST PLUS - Plus Active Service System/Control unit adaptations/Version coding/Internal ASSYST PLUS data:





a) Apply reading of main odometer from "CAN reception data" (see printout). Enter miles if parameter "Reading of odometer"(top arrow, Figures 5) shows miles, otherwise enter km. (conversion into km.: 1 mi. = 1.609 km).

b) Enter the operating time (in days) (bottom arrow) since initial registration, if greater than the current entry.

Rule: Number of months since initial registration x 30

^ ASSYST values:

Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS: Control unit/Information and communication/ASSYST active service system/Control unit adaptations - ASSYST settings





a) Enter distance traveled since the last oil change (top arrow, Figure 6) in km.

Note:
In the event the units are displayed in miles (Figure 6), the distance traveled must be also entered in miles.

b) Enter the number of days since the last oil change (bottom arrow).

3. Software update CGW:

Navigate through the following screen menus in DAS: Control units/Body/CGW-Central Gateway/Control unit adaptations/Control unit programming:

^ Confirm note regarding the software modules to be programmed by pressing "F2".

^ Select source of the flash data.

^ Confirm established flashware with "F3"/"Yes" and initiate programming.

^ Carry out manual rework. (Confirm note on the system diagnosis control unit manual settings by pressing "F2".)

a) Synchronize fault memory system diagnosis:

Navigate through the following screen menus: Control units/Body/System Diagnosis/Control unit adaptations/Perform synchronization .

b) Complete coding (only if necessary, if a failure had occurred).

c) Clear fault memory for: CGW, ASSYST, ASSYST PLUS - Plus Active Service System (navigate through the following screen menus):

^ CGW fault memory: Control units/Body/CGW-Central Gateway/Fault codes (Delete fault codes)

^ ASSYST: Control unit/Information and communication/ASSYST active service system/Fault codes (Delete fault codes)

^ ASSYST PLUS - Plus Active Service System: Control unit/Information and communication/ASSYST PLUS - Plus Active Service System/Fault codes (Delete fault codes)

^ Confirm note regarding the process result by pressing "F2".

^ Confirm process log by pressing "F2"; print beforehand if necessary.

Note:
The hardware (CGVV) is not removed for this update.
