Compressor/Pump: Service and Repair



Removing and Installing Compressor
- except CODE (487) Active body control (ABC)








DANGER:
- Risk of explosion due to detonating gas. Risk of poisoning due to swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury from battery acid burning eyes and skin or from handling damaged lead/acid batteries.
- Fire, sparks, naked flame and smoking forbidden. Wear safety gloves, clothing and glasses which protect against acid. Only pour battery acid into suitable, appropriately marked containers.


1 Disconnect battery
2 Remove engine compartment lining

NOTE:
Only the right front section

3 Unscrew pressure line connection on AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1)

NOTE: Seal pressure line with blind plugs during repair work

- If pressure line connections and pressure lines are damaged, repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.

4 Disconnect electrical coupling (A9/1y1) from drain valve
5 Disconnect electrical connector (A9/1x1)
6 Pull intake hose with air cleaner (2) out of longitudinal member.

NOTE: Installation: If the air cleaner (2) is replaced the arrow on the air cleaner (2) must point towards the longitudinal member

7 Unscrew nuts (arrows) and remove AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1)
8 Install in reverse order
9 Check AIRmatic for leaks.
