GF82.60-P-2001RJ Radio Mode, Function
GF82.60-P-2001RJ Radio Mode, Function
- with CODE (498) Japan version
After activating the "radio mode" function by pressing the "FM" or "AM" button on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), the AM antenna in the rear window with the rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) or the rear shelf antenna (A2/68) with the rear shelf antenna amplifier (A2/67) receives high frequency signals for medium wave (MW), depending on the roof position (open, closed). The FM antennas in the windshield receive high-frequency signals for ultra-short wave (FM) and relay these to the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64). Music, voice and data signals are modulated onto these high-frequency signals. The left antenna amplifier module (A2/64), rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) and rear shelf antenna amplifier (A2/67) filter the frequencies of the radio frequency bands out of the received high-frequency signals and amplify them.
The amplified signals are then sent over a coaxial line to the radio tuner in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). The radio tuner separates the useful information (audible frequencies) from the carrier signal (inaudible). The demodulated audio signals are amplified by the sound amplifier (A2/13) (model 230.467 with Code (810) Sound system) and converted via the vehicle speakers into sound signals.
Antenna diversity, function
The antenna diversity function switches between the FM antennas in the windshield depending on the reception. The function proceeds automatically and is carried out by the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64).
The radio tuner in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) only generates the intermediate frequency (IF). The IF signal serves the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) as a reference to change the FM antenna.
The radio component of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) also provides:
^ A list of stations with the currently best-received FM stations
^ An automatic memory for the best-received AM stations
^ A program type selection (e.g. culture, entertainment, pop) for FM stations
Station selection options are:
^ automatic station search with scan function (the stations of one waveband are played for 8 s)
^ station search at the multifunction steering wheel (MFL)
^ manual station search
^ Station selection with station list
^ Station selection of stored stations using number keypad
^ Station selection using the number keypad to enter the frequency
^ station selection from the memory (10 stations per waveband)
