Opening Trunk Lid With Interior Switch:

The remote trunk release switch (S15) is used to open the trunk lid from inside the vehicle.

Function requirements
The function of the remote trunk release switch (S15) is enabled by the left door control module (N69/1):
- the emergency opening function is triggered
- the vehicle is unlocked using the remote control key
- the vehicle is unlocked after a door is opened. If the vehicle was locked previously automatically or with the interior CL close and ATA function display switch (S6/5s3),
- if the remote control key is inserted into the ignition lock after locking the vehicle with the remote control key.

In the above cases, the left door control module (N69/1) receives an appropriate CAN message. The function of the switch is disabled by the left door control module (N69/1) when
- the automatic lock function is triggered
- the vehicle is locked with the remote control key (A8/1) or with the interior CL close and ATA function display switch (S6/5s3).

Operational sequence
The operation of the remote trunk release switch (S15) is read in by the left door control module (N69/1). If the function of the switch is enabled, the left door control module (N69/1) sends the command to open the trunk lid via the passenger compartment CAN to the pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37).

The pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) opens the trunk lid pneumatically provided the trunk lid is not locked by the lock cylinder having been turned to the 90 degrees position.

Emergency opening of the trunk lid (USA)
By pressing the trunk lid emergency opening switch (S88/10), it is possible to open the trunk lid from the inside in an emergency (e. g. persons trapped). The pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) reads in the switch voltage-coded and opens the trunk lid pneumatically irrespective of whether the trunk lid was closed manually or whether the vehicle was locked centrally.
