Power-Assisted Trunk Lid Close, Function

Power-Assisted Trunk Lid Close, Function

The power assisted trunk lid closing function ensure that the trunk lid is completely closed when it is only pushed to the first catch position. The contact on the trunk lid closing assist locking eye microswitch (S88/3) opens when the trunk lid lock is in the first catch position. This is recognized by the rear SAM control module (N10/8). The rear SAM control module (N10/8) signals the status of the switch to the PSE control module (combined) (A37) via the passenger compartment CAN bus. The PSE control module (combined) (A37) controls the solenoid valve on the trunk lid lock. The solenoid valve switches the pneumatic line to the power locking pneumatic element. The PSE control module (combined) (A37) applies pressure the power locking pneumatic element for the trunk lid lock. The trunk lid is pulled to the end position. The air pressure is relieved.

The PSE control module (combined) (A37) switches off, when:
- the maximum pressure for power locking is reached and/or,
- the safety time (see below) has expired and/or,
- the request signal is no longer present.

NOTE: The safety time depends on the battery voltage,

with Ubatt ≥ 13 V is t = 9 s,
with Ubatt ≤ 9 V is t = 15 s.

If the safety time for the trunk lid is exceeded twice in sequence, the PSE control module (combined) (A37) recognizes an error and deactivates the power locking function for the trunk lid.

The trunk lid can only be locked with the power locking when the PSE control module (combined) (A37) has been disconnected from circuit 30.
