Switch Dome Lamps on/Off, Function
Switch Dome Lamps On/Off, Function
Switching dome lamp on/off manually:
When the dome lamp on/off switch (N70s4) in the overhead control panel (N70) is pressed, the dome lamp (N70e1) is switched on dimmed.
The lamp is switched off from the dimmed position by resetting this switch or automatically 30 minutes after no activity on databus to minimize the drain on the battery.
If the lamp has been switched on manually it is not possible to perform any of the automatic functions explained below.
NOTE:
- Requirements for automatic functions:
- automatic headlamps on control is switched on at instrument cluster (A1) and
- switch for door contact ON and OFF (N70s3) is switched on (switch rocker is in center position) and
- lights on sensor has detected night
- automatic headlamps on control is switched off at instrument duster (A1) and
- switch for door contact ON and OFF (N70s3) is switched on (switch rocker is in center position)
Automatic functions of dome lamp
- When a door is opened, the dome lamp (N70e1) is switched on dimmed. it is switched off:
- if circuit 15 ON: dimmed immediately after the last door is closed or automatically 30 minutes after the last front door is opened.
- if circuit 15 OFF: dimmed 8 s after the last door is closed or automatically 5 minutes after the last door is opened.
- If the vehicle is unlocked, the dome lamp is switched on dimmed. it is switched off:
- dimmed 30 s after unlocking
- If the Ignition key is withdrawn, the dome lamp (N70e1) is switched on dimmed.
- It is switched off automatically after the delayed-off time of the interior light is set at the instrument cluster (A1). (Possible settings are 0 s, 5 s, 10 s, 15 s and 20 s.)
NOTE:
- If circuit 15 is switched on while an automatic light function is active, the dome lamp is switched off dimmed immediately.
- If there is a change to the requirements (position of door contact on/off switch or light sensor information) during an automatic function, this change is immediately taken into account.
Example:
If the dome lamp is switched off because a door is open and there is a change to the light sensor information from "night" to "day", the dome lamp is immediately switched off dimmed. (Requirement: automatic headlamps on control is switched on!)
ATA alarm
In the event of an ATA alarm the lamp is switched on immediately without dimming.
Actuation
The lamp is actuated internally in the overhead control panel control module (N70) in which the lamp and the rocker switch are integrated.
The overhead control panel control module receives the following information for this purpose:
- the intensity, the lights on sensor (B32/1) is read in directly by the overhead control panel control module (N70) for this purpose,
- the status of the front door contact switches (S17/3 and S17/4); they are read in by the rear SAM control module (N10/8) and forwarded over the interior CAN,
- the set delayed-off time of the interior light, it is forwarded by the instrument cluster (A1) over the interior CAN to the overhead control panel.
Under- or overvoltages
If an undervoltage or overvoltage exists, the lamp is switched off immediately without dimming. As soon as the correct voltage is restored, the lamp is switched on without dimming.
If an ATA alarm is triggered, the lamp is not switched off.
