GF91.60-P-4033R Driver-side/Front Passenger Frontal Acceleration Sensor Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The frontal acceleration sensors are located at the left and right on the front module.

Task
The frontal acceleration sensors determine the acceleration values at the front of the vehicle for the left and right hand sides. These values are used by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) to determine whether the emergency tensioning retractors or airbag units are to be deployed or not.

The frontal acceleration sensors perform a self-test. If the self-test is not passed 4 times in succession, the corresponding frontal acceleration sensor is signaled as defective.

Upon request of the restraint systems control unit, the system transmits the measuring range and the sensitivity of the frontal acceleration sensors and checks whether the data match the programmed equipment. The production data can be output via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
