Windshield Intermittent Wipe, Function
Windshield intermittent wipe, function
Networking of Components:
Function prerequisites:
- Circuit 15R ON
- Engine hood and front doors closed
Operational sequence:
- The intermittent wiping function can be switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position 1.
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read in by the steering column module (N80) and transferred to the interior compartment CAN as a message.
- The driver side SAM control module (N10/10) receives this message and initiates a wipe operation (if the wipers were already in motion then this wipe operation is first brought to a close).
- After one wiping operation, the wiper motor is stopped.
- The intermittent pause is started.
- After expiration, the intermittent pause of the next wiping operation is started.
Control of wiper motor
The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) actuates the wiper motor (M6/1) via wiper stage 1 and 2 relay (K40/2kG) and the wiper "On" and "Off" relay (K40/2kH) so that the wiper operates in speed stage 1.
Interruption of intermittent pause
If another wiper function is requested during an intermittent pause, this function is executed without taking the intermittent pause into consideration.
After completion of this function, the intermittent pause is started again.
Intermittent pause
The intermittent pause is dependent on the amount of moisture present on the windshield. The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) evaluates the data from the rain sensor (B38) for this purpose.
Data exchange between the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) and the rain sensor (B38) ensues by way of the interior compartment CAN, because the rain sensor (B38) is connected to the overhead control panel control module (N70).
NOTE: In the event of a failure in the rain sensor (B38), the intermittent time is set to approx. 5 seconds.
