Windshield Wiper, Function

Networking of Components:

Function sequence Slow wiping (stage 1)
- The slow windshield wiping function can be switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position 2.
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read in by the steering column module (N80) and transferred to the interior compartment CAN as a message.
- The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) receives this message and actuates the wiper "On" and "Off" relay (K40/2KH).
- C. 15R is connected to c. 53 (wiper stage 1) of the wiper motor (M6/1) via the wiper stage 1 and 2 relay (K40/2kG). (The wiper stage 1 and 2 relay (K40/2kG) is not actuated.)
- The wiper motor operates at slow speed.

Function sequence Fast wiping (stage 2)
- The windshield fast wiping function can be switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position 3.
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read in by the steering column module (N80) and transferred to the interior compartment CAN as a message.
- The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) receives this message and actuates the wiper On and Off relay (K40/2kH) and the wiper stage 1 and 2 relay (K40/2kG).
- Circuit 15R is switched via the wiper stage 1 and 2 relay (K40/2kG) to circuit 53b (wiper stage 2) of the wiper motor (M6/1) (the wiper stage 1 and 2 relay (K40/2kG) is then actuated).
- The wiper motor runs at high speed.

Switching off wiping function
- If the combination switch (34) is turned to the 0 position, the above message is no longer present on the interior compartment CAN.
- When the wiper motor then reaches the park position, the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) stops the wiper.
- The wiper motor stops in the park position.

NOTE:
- If c. 15R is switched off during a wiping operation, the wiper stops in the present position.
- The wiper motor (M6/1) can be switched back to intermittent wiping with the automatic speed reduction feature.
