- with CODE (388) "Portable CTEL" UPCI telephone system
- with CODE (386) Preinstallation for "Portable CTEL" UPCI telephone system
- except CODE (498) Japan version

Function requirements:
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ Enabled SIM card
^ Correct PIN entry and successful registration

Placing a call
^ Via the respective portable CTEL (A34/6) by entering the required number using the numeric keypad and then pressing the "Accept telephone call" button.
^ Via the radio (A2) by entering the number using the numeric keypads and then pressing the "Accept telephone call" control button.
^ Via the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) only with code (352) COMAND operating and display system by also entering the number via the numeric keypads and activating the call using the rotary pushbutton on the right-hand side.
^ Via the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) by selecting a stored telephone number using the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) and the system selection button (S110s3). The call is then set up using the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3).
^ With code (813) Voice Control System (VCS) the phone number is entered and the call activated using voice input.

When using the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI) system, all calls made with the portable CTEL (A34/6) are hands-free.

When entering the number, it is possible for the user to simplify number entry with the appropriate function buttons by calling up the desired numbers directly from the memory that was created for this purpose.
In this case, it is possible to call numbers stored either on the SIM card or in the telephone memory.
If an audio source (such as the radio (A2)) was active when a call is made it is muted, regardless of whether the call is incoming or outgoing. If muting takes place, "Call" appears in the display of the radio (A2) or the right multifunction display (A1p15) of the instrument cluster (A1), for example.

Terminating a call
There are several ways in which the user can terminate a telephone call:
^ By pressing the "Terminate telephone call" button on the portable CTEL (A34/6).
^ By pressing the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL).
^ With code (813) Voice Control System (VCS) by speaking certain commands, e.g. "Stop", or pressing the VCS switch (S93/2).
^ By pressing the "Terminate telephone call" button on the radio (A2).
^ Using the rotary pushbutton on the right-hand side of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) with code (352) COMAND operating and display system.
