The telephone interface (A34/4) is switched on and off via a discrete "Wake-Up" line. It responds to the negative edge of the pulse (in rest state the level is at "high") and the duration of the "Wake-up" signal.
Generally, the telephone interface (A34/4) remains active for another 10 minutes after the D2B switches off when a portable cellular telephone is present in the holder and switched on. The shut-off delay time for the portable cellular telephone can be changed (0-60 min) with an entry on the SIM card. Here, the desired time can be entered in the same manner as a telephone number under the menu point "SHUT-OFF DELAY TIME".
Control data received from the D2B is relayed to the portable cellular telephone via the telephone interface (A34/4) with the aid of discrete data lines,
causes the telephone interface (A34/4) to switch the portable cellular telephone on or off on request of the Head Unit (radio, Audio 30 or COMAND) and determines the functions to be performed (e.g. dial number).
In the other direction, the data from the portable cellular telephone (voice of caller, control data, telephone numbers) are transferred by the telephone interface (A34/4) in a corresponding D2B format to the Head Unit (radio, Audio 30 or COMAND) for further processing.
Charging battery in portable cellular telephone
The battery in the portable cellular telephone is charged as long as the telephone interface (A34/4) is activated via the D2B bus (regardless of whether the portable cellular telephone is switched on or off).
