Unlocking With Remote Control Key, Function

Operating Central Locking (CL) With Remote Control Key, Function:

The remote control key (A8/1) can be set to
- selectively unlocking
- globally unlocking

Selectively unlocking
When the "Unlock vehicle" button is pressed once, the remote control key (A8/1) sends a radio and infrared signal to the relevant receivers in the vehicle. These receive the signal and transmit its content in the form of a CAN message to the EIS [EZS] control module (N73). The EIS [EZS] control module (N73) checks the access authorization. Once the access authorization is issued, the EIS control module (N73) sends the command for selective unlocking via the passenger compartment CAN.

The pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) receives this command and unlocks the vehicle pneumatically. If the vehicle was previously locked, the pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) unlocks it selectively i.e. only driver's door and fuel filler flap. If, after "selective unlocking", a further unlocking request is received, the pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) then unlocks the vehicle globally so that the front passenger door and the trunk lid are likewise unlocked.

The remote trunk release switch (S15) is activated.

NOTE: The factory setting for selective unlocking opens: Driver's door and fuel filler flap.

Globally unlocking
When the "Unlock vehicle button is pressed once, the remote control key (A8/1) sends a radio and infrared signal to the relevant receivers in the vehicle.The remaining procedures are the same as for selective unlocking.

The pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) receives the command and unlocks doors, rear boxes, glove compartment, center stowage compartment and the fuel filler flap pneumatically.

The remote trunk release switch (S15) is activated.

If the vehicle is unlocked globally or selectively with the remote control key (A8/1), the interior switches are activated.

NOTE:
- To avoid the vehicle from being unintentionally unlocked with the remote control key (A8/1), the vehicle is "automatically" relocked if within t = 40 s after unlocking:
- no door is opened, or
- the trunk lid is not opened, or
- the ignition key is not inserted into the EIS, or
- the CL interior switch is not operated.
- If a further opening signal is received during this time window, the time is restarted.
