Distance, Function

Distance, Function

The trip computer allows the mileage traveled to be displayed
- "SINCE START" (short-distance memory) and
- "SINCE RESET" (long-distance memory)

Depending on the unit setting (kilometers/miles) and the national variant coding of the instrument cluster (A1) the fuel consumption is displayed in:
- km (ECE, Japan) or
- miles (USA).

Mileage "SINCE START" (short-distance memory), function
- Activate the "SINCE START" display mask (short-distance memory) using the system select pushbutton (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back pushbutton (S110s1) on the multifunction steering wheel.

The display is based on data registered since the most recent reset of the transient memory.
- The distance traveled "SINCE START" appears in the leftside multifunction display panel (A1p13).
- Additional information also appears in the right-side multifunction display panel (A1p15):
- the average travel speed
- the elapsed time since the beginning of the journey
- the average rate of fuel consumption

Mileage "SINCE RESET" (long-distance memory), function (text field (1) displays "SINCE RESET")
- Activate the "SINCE RESET" display mask (long-distance memory) using the system select pushbutton (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back pushbutton (S110s1) on the multifunction steering wheel.
The display is based on the data registered and calculated since the last reset of the extended memory
- The distance traveled "SINCE RESET" appears in the leftside multifunction display panel (A1p13).
- Additional information also appears in the right-side multifunction display panel (A1p15):
- the average travel speed
- the elapsed time since the reset
- the average rate of fuel consumption

The display is provided in kilometers or miles in a range extending from 0 to 65535 km (or 0 - 40959 miles) with a resolution scale of one mile or one kilometer.
After a reset the first value change occurs after one kilometer or one mile.

NOTE: Travel distance is calculated by processing he signals from the four wheelspeed sensors. These data arrive at the instrument cluster (A1) as a CAN message from the SBC control unit(A7/3n1) and the control unit for ESP, PML and BAS (N47-5).

When the travel time or distance information exceeds the maximum available display (65535 km (40959 miles) or 99:59 Stunden) the system automatically resets the travel time and distance. This preserves the relationship between travel time and mileage.
