Function
- Activate the "travel range" screen mask using the system selection (S110s3) and forward and reverse scroll (S110s1) keys on the multifunction steering wheel.
- The text "TRAVEL RANGE" appears in the left-side multifunction display panel (A1p13).
- The estimated travel range appears in the right-side multifunction display panel (A1p15).
Depending on setting, the estimated travel range display appears in either miles or kilometers.
The range is calculated by taking the quotient of the fuel level and average fuel consumption rate ("FROM START").
The following information is therefore required to calculate the range:
- the current fuel level
- the average fuel consumption rate; the data are taken from the transient memory ("SINCE START")
NOTE:
- Travel range is displayed in increments of one mile or one kilometer.
- The range is updated more frequently when the fuel level in the tank is in the reserve range. The reserve capacity employed for these calculations may vary slightly from the reserve quantity in the fuel level and reserve display (A1p2) in the instrument cluster (A1).
To calculate the fuel tank content the trip computer in the instrument cluster (A1) requires the following information:
- The rear SAM control unit (N10/8) monitors the fuel level sensor B4 and relays the corresponding data to the interior CAN.
The instrument cluster (A1) receives this message, assesses it and displays the corresponding fuel level.
NOTE: Updates are conducted in increments of one litre or 0.2 gallons.
