License Plate Lamp: Description and Operation
Emergency Lamp Control, Function
Emergency lamp actuation is intended to avoid complete failure of the exterior lighting due one single error, e.g. failure of a processor.
Emergency light actuation in the event of CAN data bus or left SAM control module (N10/10) failure
When the ignition (c. 15) is switched on the right front SAM control module (N10/11) actuates the
- the parking lamp in the right headlamp unit and
- the low beams (E1e2) in the left headlamp unit.
The rear SAM control module (N10/8) actuates the
- bulb in the left and right taillamp and
- left and right license plate lamp (E19/1 and E19/2)

- low beams (E2e2) in the right headlamp unit
The rear SAM control module (N10/8) actuates the
- bulb in the left and right taillamp and
- left and right license plate lamp (E19/1 and E19/2)
Emergency light actuation in event of processor malfunction in rear SAM control module (N10/8)
When the ignition (c. 15) is switched on the
- bulb in the left and right taillamp and
- the left and right license plate lamps (E19/1 and E19/2) are switched on via an emergency function in the rear SAM control module.
