GF07.61-P-0001-12M Motor Electronics (ME-SFI) Fuel Injection And Ignition System, Model And Major Assembly Installation Survey

1 Differences to the other model series:
- Installation of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) in the cover for the front fuse and relay module. The construction form of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit was adapted appropriately (housing made out of die-casting).
- ME-SFI [ME] control unit with gateway function between the drive train CAN (CAN-C) and the chassis CAN (CAN-B)
- LIN interface between the ME-SFI [ME] control unit and alternator (G2).
- The camshaft Hall sensor, left cylinder bank (B6/2) is no longer needed.
- Fuel pump control unit (N118) is a CAN subscriber and can be diagnosed. Fuel pressure specification is by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit to the fuel pump control unit.
2 Up to 02/2006 installed (ME-SFI 2.7.1)
3 From model refinement 3/2006 with ME-SFI 2.7.2 installed:
- Camshaft Hall sensor, left cylinder bank is no longer needed.
4 Changes for ME-SFI 2.7.2:
- Intank fuel pump (M3/1) is no longer needed.
5 The fuel pump (M3) with 3 windings is actuated by the fuel pump control unit phase shifted.
6 Changes for ME-SFI 2.7.2 from 01.12.06:
- Fuel pressure sensor (B4/7) is now measuring in absolute terms and possesses a new connection assignment.
- The fuel pump control unit was adapted.
7 Changes for ME-SFI 2.7.2 from 01.09.2006:
- Fuel pump control unit is a CAN subscriber and can be diagnosed. Fuel pressure specification is by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit to the fuel pump control unit.
- The signal from the fuel pressure sensor is read in by the fuel pump control unit.
- Fuel system pressure constant at about 3.8 bar.
For a "hot start" the fuel system pressure is increased to about 5 to 5.5 bar.
- Camshaft Hall sensor, left cylinder bank is no longer needed.
- A stronger fuel pump (about 20 mm longer) is installed
8 Changes for ME-SFI 2.7.2 from 01.09.2006:
- In order to control the duel pumps the ME-SFI [ME] control unit detects the current fuel pressure via the fuel pressure sensor and sends a PWM signal (pulse width modulated signal) signal representing the current fuel requirements to the fuel pump control unit. This evaluates the PWM signal and actuates the Fuel pump. The system pressure is then regulated between 4 and 5.5 bar.
- Fuel tank has a pressure relief valve (about 5.2 bar).
- Camshaft Hall sensor, left cylinder bank is no longer needed.
