Testing Compression Pressure






Removal, Installation
1 Warm engine up to normal operating temperature (about 80 degrees C)

NOTE: Test compression pressure only when engine at operating temperature.

2 Remove spark plugs
3 Crank engine with starter

CAUTION: Do not crank engine at the steering lock, but use contact switch of the compression tester.

NOTE: Crank engine several times with the starter to eliminate combustion residues in cylinder.

Testing
4 Insert compression tester (01) into spark plug bore
5 Open throttle valve
6 Crank engine with starter

CAUTION: Do not crank engine at the steering lock, but use contact switch of the compression tester.

NOTE:
Crank engine at least 8 revolutions to test compression pressure.

7 Perform test procedure at the remaining cylinders in the same manner
8 Compare readings obtained with permissible values
- If minimum compression pressure is not reached or if the permissible difference between the individual cylinders is exceeded, Test cylinders for leaks

9 Install in the reverse order.
