Requirements

^ Open/close trunk lid switch (S20/1s8),

Operating procedure
1.1 Actuate open/close trunk lid switch (S20/1s8) and hold down.
The signal is read in by the left door control module (N69/1) and transmitted to the RTL control module (N121) via the CAN class B bus.

1.2 Actuate RTL button (S62/26) momentarily.
The signal is read in directly by the RTL control module (N121).

2. The RTL control module (N121) actuates motor of the trunk lid power locking unit (7) until the striker eye is in the upper end position.
The upper end position is recognized by the trunk lid rotary tumbler microswitch (S17/8).

3 Simultaneously the RTL control module (N121) actuates the trunk lid drive motor (M15/2).
The opening trunk lid opening angle recognition sensor (B24/16) signals the end position of the trunk lid to the RTL control module (N121) and the trunk lid drive motor (M15/2) is switched off.

4 If the trunk lid lock arrests in the striker eye of the power locking, the trunk lid rotary tumbler microswitch (S17/8) is actuated.

5 The signal of the trunk lid rotary tumbler microswitch (S17/8) is transmitted to the RTL control module (N121) by the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via the CAN class B bus. Then this motor actuates the trunk lid power locking unit (7) until the striker eye is in the lower end position.
The lower end position is recognized by the power locking switch (S88/14).

6 On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go, the signal "Lock CL" is transmitted to the EIS control module (N73) by the RTL control module (N121) via the CAN class B bus.
A check made for a remote control key. If a remote control key is located in the exterior area, any remote control keys remaining in the vehicle are ignored. The trunk lid is closed and the vehicle locked. However, if the remote control key is detected in the passenger compartment, and not in the outside area, the trunk lid can be closed, however, the vehicle locking operation is interrupted.
Actuation of the trunk lid can always be terminated by actuating any control point. The interrupted procedure can be continued by actuating again.

Lock-up recognition:
Lock-up is recognized when the value of the trunk lid opening angle recognition sensor (B24/16) does not change during actuation of the trunk lid drive motor (M15/2).
In this case, the trunk lid drive motor (M15/2) is reactuated and the trunk lid moves back to its initial position before it was locked up.

Manual closing
The trunk can also be closed manually (with external force) Here it is necessary to overcome the resistance of the trunk lid drive unit until the trunk lid lock catches in the striker eye.
The trunk lid power locking unit (7) is not active during manual locking, i.e. the trunk lid must be closed completely manually.
