Function
The function washing is activated by pressing the combination switch (S4) beyond the catch point.
In the process, the windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1) is actuated directly by the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

If a wash is performed while wiping stage 2 is active, then the wipe cycle is performed in stage 2.

If a wash is performed while wiping stage 1 or intermittent wiping is active, then the wipe cycle is performed in stage 1.

If a wash is performed in the park position of the combination switch (S4), then the wipe cycle is performed in stage 1.

Operating time limit
The windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1) is actuated for as long as the combination switch (S4) is actuated, however for a maximum of 15 seconds (stuck switch). The time starts again when the combination switch (S4) is pressed again.

In the event of an overload, the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) switches off the windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1).

Washing water level control
The washer fluid level for the washer system and headlamp cleaning system is monitored by the windshield washer fluid level indicator switch. If the washing fluid falls below a certain level, an error message appears in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster.
