Operational sequence:
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ Selector or gearshift lever set to position "R" (reverse gear engaged)

Function for mechanical manual transmission
The backup lamp switch (S16/2) sends the message "reverse gear On" to the passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11). This signal is relayed via CAN class B.

On model 211.0:
^ To the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). This actuates the left backup lamp (E3e3) and right backup lamp (E4e3).

On model 211.2:
^ To the rear door control unit (N111).This actuates the left backup lamp (E3e3) and right backup lamp (E4e3).

Function for automatic and automated transmission
The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) or the automated manual transmission control unit (N15/6) transmit "reverse gear On" via CAN class C to the central gateway control unit (N93). This relays the signal via CAN class B.

On model 211.0:
^ To the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). This actuates the left backup lamp (E3e3) and right backup lamp (E4e3).

On model 211.2:
^ To the rear door control unit (N111). This actuates the left backup lamp (E3e3) and right backup lamp (E4e3).

On vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, the "reverse gear On" signal is sent from the central gateway control unit (N93) to the trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit (N28/1), which applies the "reverse gear On" signal to the trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58).
