The fuel tank is located at the front in the trunk above the rear axle.
Function
The fuel flows from the fuel pump assembly (M3) via a fuel line to the fuel filter with fuel pressure controller (55/2).
To supply the fuel pump assembly with sufficient fuel, an integral suction jet pump is fitted (at bottom in fuel pump assembly). This is supplied with fuel via a separate fuel line from the fuel pump assembly.
The excess fuel pumped flows on from the fuel pressure controller (55/2a) back into the fuel feed module.
The filtered fuel (with controlled fuel pressure of around 3.8 bar) is sent from the fuel pressure controller via a fuel line to the engine (single line system).
The housing of the fuel delivery module serves as a swirl pot. While cornering with a low level of fuel in the fuel tank, it prevents the fuel pump from drawing air.
A fuel strainer is installed as a coarse filter at the bottom in the fuel pump assembly at the feed to the fuel pump.
The fuel tank is equipped with a fuel level sensor (B4).
The voltage signal is transmitted to the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2), which correspondingly processes the signal and transmits it via the CAN data bus to the instrument cluster (A1).
