Removing and Installing Electronic Selector Lever Module
- with transmission 722.6
Remove/install
1 Remove engine compartment paneling
NOTE: Only remove rear part
2 Disconnect shift rod from floor shift
NOTE:
- Move selector lever to position "D"
- Remove securing clip for this step
3 Activate the service mode in the TELE AID emergency call system
Danger:
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
4 Disconnect ground cable of battery
NOTE:
- Turn key in electronic ignition switch EIS into position "O". Key cannot be withdrawn.
- Vehicle fitted with code (889) Keyless-Go: Switch off engine, remove Keyless Go cards from the vehicle and keep outside the range of the transmitter.
- Installation: Read out fault memory after connecting, adjust time display on combination instrument, code radio, normalize power window and activate steering angle sensor.
Vehicles with stationary heater: adjust time display on stationary heater.
- Ensure that ground cable will not come into renewed contact with the battery terminal as you are working.
5 Remove selector lever cover
6 Remove center console
7 Release ignition lock cable (1) at electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5)
NOTE: Press locking tab (1b), twist coupling (1c) through 90 degrees in the direction of the arrow and pull off ignition lock cable (1).
8 Unplug electronic selector lever module connector (2)
9 Remove selector lever module
NOTE: Pull locking plate off pin (3) and press pin (3) backwards to access the front bolt.
10 Install in the reverse order
11 Deactivate service mode in TELE AID emergency call system
12 Render electrical system operational
NOTE: Perform basic programming (normalize windows and sliding roof, etc.).
13 Perform function check
- If result is negative: Adjust shift rod
