Shift Chatter/Shutter While Upshifting/Downshifting

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of shift chatter / shutter while upshifting/downshifting, the cause may be water inside the automatic transmission as the result of an incorrectly positioned water outlet. Please perform the following procedure to resolve.

1. Check the transmission oil for signs of water contamination (white/pink discoloration of the oil).

2. If there is visible contamination of the transmission oil, clean the transmission oil pan and flush out the transmission by following the procedure described in WIS document AR27.55-P-0100A.

3. Correct the position of the water outlet (A) and secure using a tie strap (B) as shown in Figure 1.
