Replace Water Pocket on the Soft Top Canvas

The water pocket seam detaches in the uppermost section of the soft top canvas on specified VINs of Model 209.

A. Disassembly Instructions





1. Bring soft top (1) into position A (Figure 1).





2. Unscrew the five outer bolts (3) of the retaining rail on the left fabric tensioning bow (2).





3. Bring soft top (1) into position B (Figure 3).








4. Remove the seal (4) (Figure 4) from the roof frame profile on the main pillar (11) (Figure 5).





5. Pull soft top canvas out of the roof frame profile (Figure 6).





Note:
Ensure that the three clamps (17) (Figure 7) on the clamping piping of the soft top canvas are present and do not remain in the clamping duct.





6. Remove rivet (5) (Figure 6) for fastening the soft top canvas to the fabric tensioning bow (2) (Figure 8).

7. Loosen plastic pinch roll (6) (Figure 8).





8. Remove rivet (7) in the area of the main pillar at the bottom (Figure 9).





9. Remove locking pin (8) (Figure 10).





10. Loosen padded mat from fabric tensioning bow (2) in the area of the C-pillar (Figure 11).

11. Remove padded belt (9) from the fabric tensioning bow (2) (Figure 11).





12. Detach padded mat from the main pillar (11) and fold inwards under the soft top canvas (Figure 12). This increases the work space.





13. Loosen bolt (12) (Figure 13) for fastening the C-pillar tensioning rubber to the fabric tensioning bow (2). Refer to Figure 11.

Removing Rivets





Note:
The rivet (13) must be removed carefully to avoid damaging the fabric and it must be removed from inside the vehicle (Figure 14).





14. Remove rivets (13, 14) (Figure 15).





15. Remove retaining bracket for fastening tension cable (15) (Figure 16) of the rear wall window from fabric tensioning bow (2) (Figure 11).





16. Loosen double-sided clip (16) from the rear wall window guide (Figure 17).

B. Replace the Water Pocket
