Function shown using driver seat as example
By pulling on the backrest release handle the seat backrest is mechanically released and can be folded forward. When folding forward the backrest the driver seat backrest release microswitch (S91/3) is actuated, which is then read in by the front seat adjustment control module with memory and driver-side easy entry (N32/1).

As a result the front seat adjustment control module with memory and driver-side easy entry (N32/1) actuates the head restraint motor, raise and lower (M27m4), which lowers the head restraints to the lower stop, in order to avoid any collision with the roofliner. If the backrest is folded forward beyond a swivel range of 20°, the height release of the driver seat is mechanically unlocked and the driver seat height release microswitch (S91/4) is opened. The driver seat height release microswitch (S91/4) is also read in by the front seat adjustment control module with memory and driver-side easy entry (N32/1).

The seat can now be swiveled into the driver footwell, using the seat backrest's inertia of mass. With this the entrance area for the rear seats is increased.

If the backrest is folded back again then it is mechanically locked and the driver seat backrest release microswitch (S91/3) closed. The front seat adjustment control module with memory and driver-side easy entry (N32/1) then actuates the head restraint motor, raise and lower (M27m4), which moves the head restraint to its original position. By pushing the backrest further back the height adjuster is locked and the driver seat height release microswitch (S91/4) closed.

During the easy entry function, manual adjustment of the seat via the left door seat adjustment switch group (memory) (S91/2) and/or over the right door seat adjustment switch group (memory) (S92/2) is not possible. A manual adjustment is not possible until the seat is fully engaged. A seat that is not fully engaged is notified to the driver by a warning message in the instrument cluster (A1).
