General
The remote trunk closing function in comparison to remote trunk opening represents an extension to operating convenience. The trunk lid drive motor (M51/2) located on the left trunk lid hinge opens and closes the trunk. During the closing operation, the trunk Trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8) lid is closed to the point that the rotary tumbler engages in the locking eye and the power closing unit for the trunk lid then closes the trunk lid completely.
The TLC control unit controls the closing operation (N121).

Open trunk lid with
^ Transmitter key (A8/1)
^ Driver-side trunk lid open/close switch (S15/3)
^ Trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8)

Close trunk lid with
^ Driver-side trunk lid open/close switch (S15/3)
^ RTC button (S62/26)
^ Trunk lid Keyless Go button (S62/21) (on vehicles with (code (889) Keyless Go)

For safety reasons, it is not possible to close the trunk lid with the transmitter key.

Manually closing the trunk lid
The trunk lid can also be closed by hand.In this case, it is necessary to overcome the resistance of the trunk lid drive unit.

Opening angle limitation (garage position)
A trunk lid position (garage position), set at the factory between the two switch-off positions for opening and closing, can be activated. The garage position can be set as the new end position (maximum opening position) if required to prevent damage to the trunk lid from extending transport items (ski box, surfboard, etc.). The opening angle limitation can be switched on and off on the instrument cluster (A1).

Blockage detection
The TLC control unit recognizes the status and any change in the speed of the trunk lid with the aid of the trunk lid opening angle detection sensor (B24/16).
During the closing operation, the trunk lid drive motor is reversed and the trunk lid returns to the initial position.
During the opening operation, the trunk lid drive motor is switched off and the trunk lid remains in the momentary position.

Calibration
Calibration is required for:
^ First time operation
^ Repair work on the remote trunk closing (RTC)

The calibration is not lost when the battery is disconnected.

Function sequence (during initial operation)
The power closing unit is in the upper end position.If the trunk lid is open, it must be closed by hand until the pawl rotary tumbler switch (S88/4) sends the "Trunk lid closed" signal to the TCL control unit (lower calibration limit). To store the upper calibration limit, it is necessary for the opening angle limitation to be switched off in the instrument cluster. Actuate trunk lid open /close switch until the trunk lid is open and in the upper position. The RTC control unit recognizes the upper calibration limit by means of the trunk lid drive motor lockup recognition.

Further calibration can be accomplished only with STAR DIAGNOSIS.
