- with CODE (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated cornering lamps
- with CODE (619) Turning lamp

Component Identification:

Function requirements
^ Circuit 61 On or engine running at > 300 rpm > 2 s
^ Exterior lamp switch in "low beam" position or
^ Exterior lamp switch in "Auto" position and the rain/light sensor signals "darkness" or
^ Daytime running lamps function active
^ Speed < 40 km/h
^ Turn signal indicator via direction indicating function active or steering angle > parameterized steering angle value.

Function
In addition to the low beam, the turning lamp permits an improved illumination of the roadway in the direction of turning. The turning lamp represents an additional lamp function, which is realized by means of special fog lamps (turning lamp with integrated fog lamp function). While driving forward, the particular front fog lamp on the inside of the curve is switched on. When reversing, the opposite front fog lamp is actuated.

Only one front fog lamp is actuated, except for reversing, when the parameterization has been changed to "Max parking illumination". In this case, both front fog lamps are actuated.

If the request for right forward is present at the steering angle sensor, at the turn signal indicator switch or at both, the right front fog lamp is actuated. If the request for left forward is present at the steering angle sensor, at the turn signal indicator switch or at both, the left front fog lamp is actuated. The turning lamp remains active for as long as the function requirements exist. The turn signal indicator switch has priority over the steering angle sensor. When reverse gear is engaged, the front fog lamps are actuated inversely.

General
In order to avoid brief illumination of the front fog lamps on operating the selector lever from position "P" to "D" over position "R", the message of the central gateway control unit is filtered out for 500 ms.

A parameter is provided, which is responsible for a minimum lamp switch-on period of the turning lamp at below 40 km/h (one-touch turn signaling, parking, reversing). The minimum switch-on period starts with the cancel condition of the function.

For the switch-on and off operation, a hysteresis is programmed, which prevents the turning lamp from flickering when driving at the threshold of 40 km/h.

When accelerating into the curve, the turning lamp is switched off between 60 to 80 km/h, depending on the parameter set.

If the driving lamps have been shut off via the exterior lamp switch and if the exterior lamp switch is then set back to the "Auto" or "Low beam" position, the turning lamp is switched on again only if the turn signal indicator switch, the steering angle sensor or both permit this in terms of their parameters.

If the circuit status changes from circuit 15 On to circuit 15 Off, the turning lamp is switched off immediately with dimming. In the following operating conditions the turning lamp will be switched off immediately without dimming:
^ Diagnosis
^ Activation of hazard warning flasher
^ Exterior lamp switch in "0" position
