GF80.20-P-2003TX Headlamp Switch-off Delay, Function
MODEL 219.3
Entire function
Basically it is differentiated between the locator lighting and the headlamp switch-off delay, whereby the same components for illumination of the area surrounding the vehicle are actuated respectively.
The following lamps are actuated:
- Left standing and parking lights (E1e3)
- Right standing and parking lights (E2e3)
- Left front fog lamp (E5/1)
- Right fog lamp (E5/2)
- Taillamp, parking light, outer left rear fog light (E3e2) (up to model year 09 /J08)
- Taillamp, inner left rear fog light (E3e5) (up to model year 09 /J08)
- Left rear side marker lamp (E3e6) (as of model year 09 /J08)
- Brake light and upper left taillamp (E3e11) (as of model year 09 /J08)
- Brake light and lower left taillamp (E3e12) (as of model year 09 /J08)
- Taillamp, parking light, outer right rear fog light (E4e2) (up to model year 09 /J08)
- Taillamp, inner right rear fog light (E4e5) (up to model year 09 /J08)
- Right rear side marker lamp (E4e6) (as of model year 09 /J08)
- Brake light and upper right taillamp (E4e11) (as of model year 09 /J08)
- Brake light and lower right taillamp (E4e12) (as of model year 09 /J08)
- Left front side marker lamp United States of America (E6/1) (up to model year 09 /J08)
- Right front side marker lamp (E6/2) (up to model year 09 /J08)
- Left license plate lamp United States of America (E19/1)
- Right license plate lamp (E19/2)
On vehicles United States of America and Canada the instrument lighting and headlamp switch-off delay are only activated, when the rotary light switch (S1) is in the "Auto" position.
Locator lighting, function
Function requirements
- Function activated via instrument cluster (A1)
- release using transmitter key (A8/1)
- Rain/light sensor (B38/2) signals "Darkness"
This feature serves for illuminating the area surrounding the vehicle for a fixed time interval of 40 s set on the instrument cluster with the standing lamps, fog lamps, taillamps and license plate lamps following unlocking of the vehicle.
Deactivate function
- The locator lighting function can be switched on and off in the instrument cluster.
Function abort
- Driver door opened
Headlamp switch-off delay, function
Function requirements
- Function activated via instrument cluster
- C. 61 OFF and c. 15 OFF
- Rain/light sensor signals "Darkness"
Function
The headlamp switch-off delay serves for illuminating the area surrounding the vehicle with the standing lamps, fog lamps, taillamps and license plate lamps when getting out of the vehicle.
The time interval for the headlamp switch-off delay can be adjusted in the instrument cluster in increments of 15 s from 0 to 60 s. When a door or the trunk lid is opened, the time interval for the headlamp switch-off delay is interrupted. This applies each time a door or the trunk lid is opened within the expiration time. When the last door or the trunk lid is closed, the time interval adjusted in the instrument cluster is restarted.
When the headlamp switch-off delay is active, the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/1) sends the corresponding signal to the instrument cluster, whereby the warning buzzer (A1h1) of the light and c. 58d are suppressed. When the standing lamp is only activated due to the driving lamps in the background of the headlamp switch-off delay, the warning buzzer remains activated.
Interrupt function
When the ignition c. 15 is switched on and off the headlamp delayed switch-off feature is interrupted until the function requirement is present again.
On vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) the headlamp switch-off delay is also interrupted when the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) triggers an alarm.
Deactivate function
When the time interval is set to "0 s" in the instrument cluster the headlamp switch-off delay feature is deactivated.
