Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

- with CODE (489) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension)


Component Identification:





Air springs that are too long or unrolled and air springs, in which the connector hose has been dismantled, are scrap and may not be installed in the vehicles, as otherwise perfect function is no longer assured!

To ensure that the AIRmatic is functioning correctly, it is necessary to check the spring elements for damage prior to installation.
1 Check the condition of the air springs (41) when removed. The air spring (41) must meet the following conditions:
^ The air springs (41) must be straight.
^ The air springs (41) must not be buckled or twisted.
^ The protective boot (1) must not be damaged (e.g. cracks).
^ The folds in the protective boot (1) must be correctly formed.
^ The clamps (2) of the connector hose (3) must not be opened and the connector hose (3) must not be removed.
^ The length of the air springs (41) from the center of the lower eye to the upper contact surface must not exceed dimension (b =300 mm).
