GF82.61-P-3011TJ Route Calculation, Function
- with CODE (529) HIGH Class Japan

With code (529) HIGH Class Japan the navigation processor is integrated in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).

After inputting the destination on the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3), the route is calculated and constantly updated by the navigation processor . This can only be calculated within the digitalized map areas. The calculated route is the prerequisite of the destination guidance system.

Route calculation
The navigation processor calculates the route to be driven with the aid of DVD map data and the instantaneous position. For the calculation it takes into account the roads and attributes read from the DVD map such as one-way streets, bans on turning off, road classes, etc. (if present).

Selectable route calculations
^ Fastest route
^ Short route
^ Dynamic route

When selecting the "Dynamic route", traffic messages received via the FM network are stored and taken into account for the route calculation. The route is then calculated with the optimum time, in a manner similar to the "Fastest route" option.
Notification that the route has been recalculated taking traffic messages into consideration, is provided.

For the route calculation, the following stretches can be blocked from the route calculation:
^ Avoid highway
^ Avoid ferries/vehicle transport
^ Avoid toll roads
^ Avoid tunnels

The navigation differentiates between:
^ main and intermediate destinations of a trip (driven to directly)
^ Via destinations

Via destinations
The entry of a Via destination always refers to the road network. Any road that is available in the network can be selected as a Via destination.
The Via destinations are not driven to directly, i.e. the function is restricted to the highway network.
The selection is always made via the map. In addition, the operating unit controls, however, also the input of a town or other index destinations and then the branching off into the map. With a Via destination, the route calculation takes place to the next main destination taking the Via point into consideration.
Following the calculation of the route, the navigation processor generates a list of roads and junctions to be driven along. This route list is used for destination guidance.
It may also be displayed by calling up the "Information" menu.

Route updating
When the driver deviates from the calculated route, a new route list is calculated by the navigation processor. When doing so, the current position and the direction of travel are taken into consideration. The new route is optimized accordingly.

Trips outside the digitized map area
If the vehicle leaves the digitized DVD map area (e.g.driving into a multilevel car park), a route cannot be calculated or updated. "OFF ROAD" appears on the display. Upon leaving the map boundary (e.g. foreign country), the message "OFF MAP" appears.
Destinations which lie outside of the digitalized map area cannot be taken into consideration on calculation of the route.
