Function
The purpose of closing the tilting/sliding roof via PRE-SAFE is to prevent objects from entering the vehicle interior or to prevent occupant body parts (e.g., arms) from reaching out of the vehicle in the event of an accident.
The overhead control panel control unit (N70) receives the signal for automatic closing of the tilting/sliding roof over the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) from the central gateway control unit (N93) and then closes the tilting/sliding roof via the tilting/sliding roof (SHD] drive unit (M12).
The tilting/sliding roof is closed until only a gap remains, in order to ensure that, in the event of a subsequent impact, any smoke particles generated by the pyrotechnical restraint systems can escape. Automatic closing can be aborted at any time by manually operating the roof switch (N70s1).
When the tilting/sliding roof is closed via PRE-SAFE, the obstruction sensor is active. If required, the closing process is reversed.
The tilting/sliding roof has to be manually moved back into the desired position after the PRE-SAFE situation has ended.
The PRE-SAFE function of the tilting/sliding roof can be switched off via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
