GF82.62-P-0001T Antenna System (ATS), Function
- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version

In the present description only the antenna system for audio, TV, telephone and navigation is described.

Antennas
We differentiate between passive and active antennas. Passive Antennas do not require any voltage supply, for this reason they cannot directly amplify the received signals, e.g.
^ All antennas in the rear window.

Active antennas are supplied with voltage. They are fitted with an integrated amplifier, e.g.:
^ Telephone antenna (A2/22) with model 211.2
^ Telephone antenna (A2/49a1) with model 211.0
^ GPS antenna (A2/23) with model 211.2
^ GPS antenna (A2/49a2) with model 211.0

Power can be supplied by separate lines or via the coaxial lines which serve simultaneously for signal transmission (so-called phantom feed).
In this case, no separate leads are required for the power supply.

GPS antenna
The GPS antenna (A2/23) on model 211.2 or the GPS antenna (A2/49a2) on model 211.0 can be used by two control units via the GPS antenna splitter (A2/5):
^ Telecommunications control unit (N112) (with code (498) Japan version E-call control unit (N112)) for position finding and locating in the event of an emergency call
^ Navigation processor (N41/1) for position finding in the navigation system

Telephone antenna
With code (228) Stationary heater, the stationary heater can be operated using two-way radio via the telephone antenna (A2/22) on model 211.2, or the telephone antenna (A2/49a1) on model 211.0.
To do so the telephone/portable CTEL/STH radio remote control antenna splitter (A2/53) has to be integrated. No separate cabling is required.

Radio remote central locking
The radio remote central locking antenna is in the rear window with the radio and TV antennas.

The signals are transmitted over the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and sent to the CAN interior (CAN-B).

With code (527) navigation module for COMAND, the right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) is responsible for the TV reception. With code (889) Keyless Go, the right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) is installed with a Keyless Go functionality.
