Remove/Install Lower Wishbone







DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.


CAUTION: See notes on self-locking nuts and bolts.

1 Remove front road wheel
2 Detach lower engine compartment paneling
3 Remove torsion bar (10)

NOTE: The torsion bar (10) must be removed due to the accessibility of the nuts of the lower transverse control arm (4) on the front axle carrier.

4 Detach suspension strut (40) at the top of the C-bracket (40e)
5 Detach brake line bracket from C-bracket (40e)
6 Detach C-bracket (40e) from lower transverse control arm (4)
- If necessary

CAUTION:
- Check ball joint boot in lower transverse control arm (4) for damage and replace lower transverse control arm if necessary.
- Installation: After installation the bolts (40f) must terminate at least flush with the C-bracket (40e) or be slightly recessed in it.


7 Press supporting joint (7) out of steering knuckle (5)
8 Press supporting joint (7) out of lower wishbone (4)
- If necessary.

9 Detach lower wishbone (4) from front axle carrier

CAUTION: When repair kit is installed: The hexagon bolt must not be turned. When loosening the nut always hold the bolt and apply counter-pressure, as the caster adjustment tab in the rubber bushing will be sheared off if the bolt moves.

NOTE: Installation: If repair bolts are already installed, the installation position must be noted. Install bolts and adjusting washers in the same position again.

CAUTION: Installation: Only tighten nuts when the vehicle is in the curb condition.

10 Install in the reverse order
11 Carry out chassis alignment check.
- Only after installing new parts.
