Bluetooth
Using Bluetooth, it is possible to connect modern communication devices, such as PDAs or laptops, to the mobile phone system quickly and easily. Bluetooth is a worldwide open standard for connecting Bluetooth devices (e.g. mobile phones) wirelessly and is based on radio technology in the 2.4 GHz range. One advantage of Bluetooth, next to the wide availability of Bluetooth devices, is the uncomplicated and spontaneous connection of Bluetooth devices to a Bluetooth network (ad-hoc network).
The extremely high data security (128-bit encoding) and the relatively limited radius (approx. 10 m) of such a Bluetooth network is what makes the use of Bluetooth in the vehicle interesting. The COMAND operating, display and controller unit can integrate mobile phones of the latest generation into the vehicle hierarchy using the Bluetooth interface of the mobile phone and the Bluetooth antenna (A2/91).
If several Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones are located in the vehicle, then the connection is established with the last mobile phone used in the vehicle. If this is not in the vehicle, then a search is made for a mobile phone used previous to this.
If a mobile phone is not yet logged into the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via Bluetooth or the connection is to be made with another mobile phone, you can search for Bluetooth devices via the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit, or a mobile phone can be selected from a list of Bluetooth mobile phones that have been found.
