GF82.60-P-3021RIU Satellite Digital Audio Radio (Satellite Radio) (SDAR) Function
- with CODE (536) SIRIUS satellite radio
Function requirements
^ Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15R ON"
^ System is authorized and operating properly
^ The SDAR antenna (A2/82) is operating free of faults
General
The SDAR control unit (N87/5) enables "Sirius Satellite Radio" provider channels to be received. The satellite digital audio radio (satellite radio) (SDAR) system is actuated using the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). The information or displays required for operation are shown on the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit.
Operating instructions
The system can be operated using the following components:
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
- Right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
- Control buttons on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit
SDAR function sequence
To achieve reception diversity, the Sirius satellite radio signal is transmitted 3 times (by 2 satellites and one terrestrial transmitter). The SDAR antenna receives all 3 channels (Sat 1, Sat 2, terrestrial transmitter) and routes the signals to the SDAR control unit via a coaxial cable. The SDAR control unit receives and decodes the signals. Finally, the SDAR control unit transmits the decoded, digital radio signals to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) (code (810) Sound system) via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
The audio output takes place over the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group (H4/1)
- Right door speaker group (H4/2)
- Left rear speaker (H4/7)
- Right rear speaker (H4/8)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Subwoofer speaker (H4/29)
The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels from the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via MOST to the amplifier for sound system and from there, via direct lines over the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9) and then to the subwoofer speaker.
