GF54.50-P-2009RR Average Speed, Function
- up to model year 08
Average speed display, function:
1 Text: "SINCE START: XXXXX km (miles)" or "SINCE RESET: XXXXX km (miles)"
A1p13 Left multifunction display
A1p15 Right multifunction display
The trip computer makes it possible to display the average travel speed:
^ "SINCE START" (short-distance memory) and
^ "SINCE RESET" (long-distance memory)
Depending on the unit setting (kilometers/miles) and the national variant coding of the instrument cluster (A1) the average travel speed is displayed in:
^ km/h (ECE, Japan) or
^ mph (USA).
The average speed is displayed in either kilometers per hour (Figure 1) or miles per hour (Figure 2). The text boxes (1) display ("SINCE START" (short-distance memory) or "SINCE RESET" (long-distance memory)):
^ The display resolution is one kilometer per hour or one mile per hour.
^ The display range extends from 0 to 260 km/h or 0 to 160 mph.
^ The figure is updated once per second (display refresh).
The average speed is calculated by taking the quotient of the distance traveled and the time since the last reset of the short or long-distance memory.
Average speed "SINCE START" (short-distance memory), function
^ Activate the "SINCE START" display (short-distance memory) using the system selection button (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) on the multifunction steering wheel.
The display shows the data calculated since the last reset (RESET) of the short-distance memory.
^ The distance traveled "SINCE START" appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13).
^ Additional information also appears on the right multifunction display (A1p15):
- the average travel speed
- the elapsed time since starting
- the average fuel consumption
Average speed "SINCE RESET" (long-distance memory), function
^ Activate the "SINCE RESET" display (long-distance memory) using the system selection button (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) on the multifunction steering wheel. The display is based on the data registered and calculated since the last reset of the long-distance memory.
^ The travel distance "SINCE RESET" appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13).
^ Additional information also appears on the right multifunction display (A1p15):
- the average travel speed
- the elapsed time since the reset
- the average fuel consumption
The following information is required:
^ Travel time: is calculated internally in the instrument cluster (A1).
^ Travel distance: is determined from the four wheel speeds. Wheel speeds are passed to the instrument cluster (A1) as CAN messages generated by the SBC control unit (A7/3n1) and the ESP, SPS [PML] and BAS control unit (N47-5).
It is completely normal for the "SINCE START" display (short- distance memory) and "SINCE RESET" display (long-distance memory) to show different values since the two displays are based on different sets of data. The "SINCE START" display (short- distance memory) reacts much more sensitively to the current driving situation than the "SINCE RESET" display (long-distance memory). If initial values are defective, "- - -" appears in the display field.
