Task

The tire pressure monitor (TPM) is permanently operational is not actively controlled by the driver. Each time the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) is alerted (starting procedure or ignition "ON" (circuit 15)) the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) performs a reinitialization and starts to transmit signals to the instrument cluster (A1). Reactivation of the TPM system can be initiated via the scroll forward/back button and the + and -button for setting specific functions and volume control as well as the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1) on the instrument cluster.

The TPM system can be reactivated in the following cases:

^ Tire pressure changed (e.g. from refilling)
^ After every wheel or tire change

When the TPM system is activated, the air pressure values set by the driver for the wheels are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit as the specified monitoring data.
