Remove/install Rear Axle Center Assembly


Shown: Rear Axle Center Assembly With 185 Mm Dia. Ring Gear In Model 203:




Shown: Rear Axle Center Assembly With 198 Mm Dia. Ring Gear In Model 203:






DANGER:
- Risk of death Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer


CAUTION: See notes on self-locking nuts and bolts

1 Jacking up and supporting vehicle
2 Remove exhaust heat shield (105c)
3 Unscrew bolts on propeller shaft intermediate bearing (106a)
4 Detach rear propeller shaft (106) from rear axle center assembly (50)

NOTE:
- The flexible coupling remains on the propeller shaft
- Installation: Connect rear propeller shaft to rear axle center assembly.

5 Slacken flexible coupling fitted sleeves on flange
6.1 Remove right rear axle shaft (37)
- On vehicles with rear axle shaft plugged into the rear axle center assembly
6.2 Detach left rear axle shaft (37) and right rear axle shaft from rear axle shaft flange
- On vehicles with screw-type rear axle shaft at the connecting flange
7 Support final-drive unit
8 Unscrew bolts of rear center assembly suspension (50a)
9 Unscrew bolt of front center assembly suspension (53)

NOTE: Installation: Attach front center assembly suspension

10 Drain rear axle center assembly

NOTE:
- On vehicles with rear axle shaft plugged into the rear axle center assembly.
- In the process pull the rear axle center assembly to the right off the left rear axle shaft.
- Ensure that no rear axle oil runs out when removing.
- Pull out, press in rear axle shaft at the rear axle center assembly

11 Install in the reverse order
12 Replace breather
13 Check rear axle center assembly oil level, correct if necessary
