Function
Wiper operation is suppressed when:
- combination switch (S4) is in position "I" (windshield) and
- driver or passenger-side door is open
- speed is less than 5 km/h, or
- the engine hood is opened.

Opening the driver or passenger-side door does not interrupt wiper operation that is currently in progress. The wipers move to the park position.

The wipers resume operation after suppression if:
- the clutch is actuated (with transmission 716) or
- the selector lever is in position "D" or "R" (on transmission 722) or
- the speed is faster than 8 km/h or
- the combination switch (S4) is turned from position "I" (windshield) to position "II" or position "III".
