Function prerequisites:
- Circuit 15R ON

Function
The automatic wiper control (rain sensor operation) function is switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "I" (windshield).
The wiper motor is actuated (M6/1) depending on the degree of wetting of the windshield.
The rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the overhead control panel control unit (N70) evaluate the signals. M6/1The wiper system is actuated via CAN-B (CAN-B) by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Possible wiper levels:
- Intermittent wiper with variable intervals.
- Continuous wiping at the required wiping speed.

Emergency running
If the communication between the rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the overhead control panel control unit (N70) fails, intermittent operation is activated at fixed intervals (approx. 5 sec.).
The intermittent mode pauses are approx. 7.5 seconds with automatic speed reduction function (not on USA vehicles).
