AZ82.70-P-0005-02PP Retrofit Hands-free System Wiring Harness
- MODEL 203.### 1# as of 1.4.04
- for Mercedes-Benz Hands-free system FSE 11
1 Prepare the CAN (4) wiring harness.
5 Adapter wiring harness, non-VDA
7 Connector for hands-free system (HFS)
9 Mute line (not needed)
10 CAN connection
32 ICANI connection coupling
33 Interface connector
40 Connection for voltage supply
W18 Ground (left front seat crossmember)
M Mute connection
MIC Microphone wiring harness connector
SP Hands-free speaker connector
Z Intermediate connector
2 Connect non-VDA adapter wiring harness (5) to hands-free system interface box (3).
3 Connect the CAN wiring harness (4) to the ICANI box (2), and connect the HFS connector (7) to the non-assigned connector at the hands-free system interface box (3).
4 Route the microphone line from the non-VDA adapter wiring harness (5) with the microphone connector (MIC) to the right-side A-pillar and from there on up to the roof liner. Secure the line in place with adhesive felt.
In vehicles with headbag it must be ensured that the line is routed in front of (towards the windshield) the headbag tensioning strap at the upper A-pillar.
5 Secure the microphone (6) to the mirror base with double-sided adhesive tape (included in the parts kit) and connect to the microphone connector (MIC).
Align microphone so that pickup opening points towards driver.
6 Connect hands-free speaker (21) to connector and route to front passenger knee bolster cover. Install speaker in pre-marked location.
Use commercially available bolts for installation.
7 Route CAN wiring harness (4) beneath center console to the left to the ground (left front seat crossmember) (W18) and connect.
8 Route the voltage supply connector (40) to the left at the instrument panel to the fuse and relay box, and then connect the fuse carrier to plug position 40. Insert a 7.5 A fuse in the fuse carrier.
9 Secure the connector line in place with adhesive felt.
10 Route CAN connector (10) to left voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7).
11 Temporarily connect vehicle up to power supply and switch ignition and radio on.
12 Starting at the left voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7) at the front right, disconnect the first connector and check whether steering wheel operation does not work anymore, then lock the vehicle with the remote control.
The CAN connection to the radio/COMAND must be located. This inhibits steering wheel operation but allows the vehicle to be locked using the remote control. If this condition is not fulfilled by disconnecting the connector, reconnect this connector and disconnect the next one and repeat the check (steering wheel operation and CL). Repeat this procedure until the correct connector has been located.
13 Attach CAN connector (10) with gray line to the left voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7).
14 Attach the mating plug of the CAN connection (10) to the disconnected voltage distributor connector.
15 Expose green mute coupling in left cable duct and attach to green plug (M) of CAN wiring harness (4).
