- Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

CAUTION:
- See notes on handling brake fluid
- See notes on repairs to brake system

DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

1 Remove front wheels
2 S10/1 Disconnect connector from front brake pad contact sensor

NOTE: Defective contact sensors must be replaced.

CAUTION: See note on installing contact sensor for brake lining wear indicator

3 Unscrew self-locking bolts (31c), remove floating caliper (31a) upwards take off

NOTE:
- Tie floating caliper to body.
- Check dust boots of piston at floating caliper for damage.
- Installation: Replace self-locking bolt (31c).

NOTE: Installation: Ensure that the retaining plates (31d) are mounted correctly on the brake carrier.

5 Check lining thickness of brake pads and condition of brake discs

CAUTION: If the brake pads are worn down beyond the permissible wear limit, the web between sealing groove and dust cap may be damaged, for this reason, checking braking system for leaks using pressure gauge

6 Pull the front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) out of the pad backing plate of the brake pad (31g)

NOTE: Replace faulty contact sensor.

CAUTION: See note on installing contact sensor for brake lining wear indicator

7 Press back piston (47) using resetting device (031)

CAUTION: Possibly suction off some brake fluid beforehand in order to prevent the brake fluid reservoir overflowing when pushing back the piston.

- If the piston is difficult to move then remove and install, replace front axle floating caliper.

8 Clean contact surface of brake pad (31g) in brake carrier and floating caliper (31a)
9 Install in the reverse order

DANGER:
- Risk of accident when the vehicle is first operated following repair work due to inadequate braking effect the first time the service brake is applied.
- Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.

10 Operate brake pedal several times until the brake pads make contact with the brake disks (firm resistance can be felt)
11 Check the brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir and correct if necessary.

NOTE: Fill up or suction off brake fluid to the max. marking on the brake fluid reservoir
