General information

In order to make it easier to get into and out of the vehicle, the steering column is moved upwards and the driver's seat backwards.

After getting in the steering column, driver's seat and outside mirrors are moved into the last driving position assigned to the transmitter key.

The adjustment of the steering column is described in the following.

Function requirements
^ Function activated in instrument cluster
^ Steering column normalized

Move to entry/exit position

Function

For the following status changes:
^ Transmitter key withdrawn or
^ Open driver door with circuit 15R On or
^ Open driver door with circuit 15C or
^ Driver's door opened with transmitter key not in ignition the height adjustment up/down motor (M20m2) is actuated by the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) (steering column upwards).

For this the following information is read out and processed by the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) via CAN-B (CAN-B):
^ The EIS control unit (N73) sends the circuit status,
^ The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) transmits the status of the left front door contact switch (S17/3),
^ The instrument cluster transmits "Easy entry/exit activated"

Function abort
^ Adjustment request for seat or steering column
^ Change from circuit 15 Off to circuit 15C, circuit 15R or circuit 15
^ Close driver door with circuit 15

Approach driving position

Function

For the following status changes:
^ No circuit -> circuit 15C (when driver door is closed),
^ Circuit 15C -> circuit 15R (when driver door is closed),
^ Circuit 15R -> circuit 15 (when driver door is closed),
^ close the driver door with circuit 15 On the height adjustment motor, up and down (M20m2) is actuated by the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1).
The driving position is stored in the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) depending on the key.

The transmitter keys are managed with the memory block number.

The memory block number is issued by the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73).

Abort conditions
^ Missing function requirements
^ under- or overvoltage
^ Adjustment request (memory or manual)
^ Circuit change
^ Driver door is opened with circuit 15C or circuit 15R

Repeat limiter of easy entry/exit aid

Repeatedly inserting and removing the transmitter key causes the equipment to move between the easy entry/exit positions and the driving positions every time.

To prevent this, the number of cycles is limited to 5. The counter is reset if the following conditions are met:
^ C. 15R ON and
^ The driver door status is changed.
